Mumbai News: Marine Drive road, beyond the Oberoi Hotel, is closed to vehicles today as Mumbai prepares to honour the late Ratan Tata, a beloved industrialist and former chairman of Tata Sons. His mortal remains will be displayed for public tribute at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) from 10 AM to 4 PM.

The procession will transport Tata's body from his residence in Colaba to the NCPA, a journey of about 2 kilometres, starting at 9:45 AM. To ensure a smooth passage for the late industrialist's remains, the Mumbai Police have set up a green corridor.

According to a Lokmat Times report, members of the public wishing to pay their respects are advised to enter through Gate 3 and exit via Gate 2, as there will be no parking available on the premises. The police have assured a strong presence to maintain order during the tribute.

After the public viewing, Tata's remains will be taken to Worli for cremation, following Parsi customs. The final rites will occur later in the day at the Prayer Hall of the Worli Crematorium. Ratan Tata, who passed away at the age of 86 after a long illness, leaves behind a legacy of significant contributions to Indian industry and a commitment to philanthropy and social responsibility.

In a gesture of respect, the Maharashtra government has declared a day of mourning. The Chief Minister's Office has announced that the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government offices across the state. Furthermore, all entertainment events have been cancelled for the day, reflecting the deep respect held for one of India's most esteemed figures.
