Mumbai Metro Line 1 Update: The Mumbai Metro on Saturday announced that all the trains will operate from Ghatkopar to Versova with higher frequency from June 16. While sharing the details on social media platform X, the authority stated that the services will improve on Mumbai Metro Line 1 from Monday. It further stated that the changes will provide convenience to the residents of several regions by cutting the travel time significantly and by reducing the traffic congestion. Earlier last month, the authority had stated that several changes will be introduced in the upcoming months to improve the regional connectivity.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in March had announced that trains with shorter turnaround will be operated between Andheri and Ghatkopar to accommodate more passengers on the route. However, the authority has decided to increase the frequency, especially in the peak hours, to provide relief to the commuters of the several routes.

“Effective 16th June 2025, enjoy increased frequency during peak hours for a smoother, faster commute. All trains will now run the full stretch from Ghatkopar to Versova,” Mumbai Metro One stated in a post on X.

The move is likely to benefit thousands of commuters, as approximately 5 to 6 lakh people travel from Andheri to Ghatkopar on a daily basis. Thousands of the passengers wait in line to confirm their tickets, and several wait on the platforms for the trains. However, the operation of more trains on the route will ensure that the commuters will get relief from the huge crowd and will reach their destination on time.
