BKC- Acharya Atre Chowk News: Mumbai Metro’s Aqua Line from Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli became operational on Saturday. Earlier, the Aqua line was only operational in the suburban stretch between JVLR Aarey and BKC, which was launched last year.
In suburban area, currently three metro lines, Mumbai Metro line-1 (Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova), Metro Line 2A (Dahisar East-Andheri West ) and Metro Line 7 (Andheri East-Dahisar East) are operational.
According to a report by news agency PTI, quoting an official from Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), the metro service commenced at 6:30 in the morning, with the first metro leaving from Worli Naka and JVLR Aarey stations simultaneously.
On this newly operational route, the metro service will run from 6:30 am to 10:30 daily, while on Sunday, the service will start at 8:30 am. The full journey on the route between JVLR Aarey and Acharya Atre Chowk will cost Rs 60, while the fare on the newly operational stretch range from Rs 10 to Rs 40.
The newly operational Phase 2A spans 9.77 km and features a tunnel built through the rocky terrain beneath the Mithi River. It includes six underground stations: Dharavi, Shitaladevi, Dadar West, Siddhivinayak, Worli, and Acharya Atre Chowk.
This corridor aims to improve metro access to commercial hubs in Worli, Lower Parel, and Prabhadevi, as well as provide convenient connectivity to key religious and cultural spots like Siddhivinayak Temple, Mahim Dargah, Shitaladevi Temple, Shivaji Park, and Ravindra Natya Mandir.
The MMRC will operate 244 daily services on the route using eight trains. Travel times are estimated 15-20 minutes from BKC to Acharya Atre Chowk and 36 minutes to cover the distance between JVLR Aarey and Acharya Atre Chowk. Trains will run at a frequency of every 6 minutes and 20 seconds.
