Mumbai Metro officials have shared the first visuals of the much-talked-about Vidhan Bhavan Metro station, located on Line 3, the Aqua Line, which has gone viral on social media. The new metro station will connect important administrative buildings of Mantralaya, the New Administrative Building, and Vidhan Bhavan. 

The station is also connected to other important points, such as Nariman Point and Marine Drive, thereby making it well-connected with the CSMT railway station as well.

How Does The Station Look?

The first visuals of the station that had gone viral show a sleek underground station with wide platforms, modern escalators, bright lighting, and clearly marked signboards. The design is constructed in a way that commuters experience a smooth and convenient journey.

The metro station will operate on the fully underground Aqua Line, through the posh South Mumbai corridor. It features a well-planned layout with several access and exit routes, improving connectivity for thousands of daily commuters and providing safe, convenient, and smooth travel for both government personnel and the general public. 

Some of the key exit points planned are: 

  • Badhwar Park

  • Taj Wellington Mews

  • The Indian Navy Sailor’s Institute

  • The Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association

These extensive exit points will serve as bifurcation channels for the passenger load, alongside serving to ease the traffic congestion in the area.

When Will The Metro Station Open For Public?

The Vidhan Bhavan Station is currently in the final phase of construction and is expected to open for the public soon when the Aqua Line is completed. 

The 33.5 km-long Aqua line is likely to be opened to the public by the end of September. The line stretches from Aarey Colony in the north to Cuffe Parade in the south. The upcoming Worli-Cuffe Parade section will complete this corridor with crucial stations like:

  • Science Museum

  • Mahalaxmi

  • Mumbai Central

  • Girgaon

  • Kalbadevi

  • CSMT

  • Hutatma Chowk

  • Churchgate

  • Cuffe Parade
