Mumbai Metro-3 Phase 2 Launch: Mumbai commuters have a major reason to celebrate! The much-anticipated second phase of Mumbai Metro-3, running from Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) to Worli, was inaugurated on May 9. This expansion means faster, smoother travel right into the heart of the island city, slashing journey times and offering modern facilities like free WiFi at all stations.

Office-goers can now reach Worli from BKC in just 15 minutes, making daily commutes easier and more efficient.

What Is Mumbai Metro-3?

Mumbai Metro-3, also known as the Aqua Line, is a vital underground metro project designed to enhance connectivity across the city. It is being developed in three phases:

- Phase 1: Aarey Colony to Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC)

Launched in October 2024, this 12.7 km stretch serves key locations including Andheri, SEEPZ, and the Mumbai Airport terminals.

- Phase 2: BKC to Worli

The newly opened 9.77 km segment runs underground through Dharavi, Dadar, and Siddhivinayak Temple before reaching Worli.

- Phase 3: Worli to Cuffe Parade

This upcoming phase will connect the metro all the way to Cuffe Parade via important hubs like Mumbai Central, Churchgate, and CSMT.

Faster Travel with Convenient Facilities

The BKC-Worli stretch operates eight trains with departures every six minutes and 20 seconds. The first train leaves Aarey JVLR at 6:30 am, and the last departs Acharya Atre Chowk (Worli Naka) at 10:30 pm.

To enhance the commuter experience, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has introduced free WiFi at all Aqua Line stations’ concourse levels. This resolves the persistent mobile network issues inside metro stations and trains, ensuring uninterrupted digital ticketing, payments, and communication.

Affordable Fares and Travel Times

Ticket prices are pocket-friendly, with a ride from Aarey Colony to Acharya Atre Chowk costing just Rs 60.

Here’s how long it takes to travel from Aarey Colony to key stops on the line:

- Dharavi: 27 minutes

- Shitaladevi Mandir: 29 minutes

- Dadar: 32 minutes

- Siddhivinayak Mandir: 34 minutes

- Worli: 36 minutes

- Acharya Atre Chowk: 39 minutes

How to Connect from Borivli or Dahisar to Worli Using Metro-3?

Commuters from Dahisar and Borivli can now easily reach Worli by using Metro-3 in combination with other metro lines.

From Dahisar: Take Metro-7 to Gundavli, then transfer to Metro-1 at Western Express Highway station via a short foot overbridge. Travel towards Ghatkopar, alight at Marol Naka, and switch to Metro-3 to reach BKC or Worli.

From Borivli: Use Metro-2A from Borivli West to Andheri West, then transfer to Metro-1 at DN Nagar station. Travel towards Ghatkopar and get off at Marol Naka to board Metro-3 towards BKC or Worli.
