Mumbai News: Just moments before ending his life, 32-year-old JJ Hospital doctor Omkar Bhagwat Kavitke called his mother and told her he would be home for dinner. Hours later, his car was found abandoned on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (Atal Setu) and CCTV footage confirmed he had jumped off the sea bridge.

Dr Kavitke, a resident of Sector 20 in Kalamboli, left JJ Hospital on July 7 and made the brief call to his mother around 9 PM. It was the last time his family heard from him.

At 9:43 PM, an unidentified caller informed the Atal Setu control room that a man had jumped into the sea from the Mumbai-bound lane, near the 11.8-km mark of the bridge. Ulwe Police and beat marshals rushed to the spot and found a Honda Amaze car parked on the bridge. Inside, they discovered an iPhone but no other personal items.

The phone and car registration were used to trace his identity. Police contacted his family, and his sister, Komal Pramod Lambate, later arrived at Ulwe Police Station to confirm that the car and phone belonged to her brother.

The Free Press Journal report cited, Senior Inspector Arjun Rajne as confirming that CCTV footage from the bridge showed a man—matching Dr Kavitke’s description—jumping into the sea. Since then, the Coast Guard and police teams have been conducting a search, but there has been no success so far.
