Mumbai Local Trains: The Suburban local rail services, known as the lifeline of Mumbai, will be disrupted for two days due to the dismantling of an elevated booking office at Kandivali Yard.

A Western Railway official said a 36-hour major block will be operated on the fifth line and yard lines from Saturday afternoon to dismantle an elevated booking office at Kandivali Yard.

"Suburban and mail express trains will be run on Fast Line during the block that will start at 1 pm on May 31 and end at 1 am in the intervening night of Sunday-Monday. Due to this block, at least 73 suburban local services will remain cancelled on the first day and 89 on the second day," a WR spokesperson said.

Some Express Trains Will Also Be Affected

The 19418 Ahmedabad-Borivali Express, 19425 Borivali-Nandurbar Express, 19426 Nandurbar-Borivali Express and 19417 Borivali-Ahmedabad Express will be short terminated and originate at Vasai Road station, he added.

Central Railway Renames Usmanabad Station As Dharashiv

In another development, the Usmanabad railway station in central Maharashtra has been renamed as 'Dharashiv'. The station previously known as Usmanabad, with the station code UMD, has now been officially renamed Dharashiv, with the new station code DRSV, the Central Railway said in a release.

The Maharashtra government has already changed the name of Osmanabad city and district (locally pronounced as `Usmanabad') as Dharashiv and the proposal to change the name of the station was pending with the railways. "The new station name and code have been approved by the Indian Railways Conference Association," the release stated.
