Thane: A 23-year-old air hostess working with a private airline has alleged that she was raped by a colleague, a pilot, at his residence in Mira Road near Mumbai. The incident reportedly took place earlier this week after the two had returned from an international flight to London, on which they were both assigned.

According to the NDTV report, after landing in Mumbai, they travelled together to Mira Road, where both reside but in separate homes. The pilot requested her to visit his house before heading to her own. When she arrived at his residence, she discovered that no one else was present.

It was then that the alleged assault took place. A case has been registered at the Navghar police station. Police officials stated that the accused pilot is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest him.

In a separate incident, a 22-year-old woman was raped in her own apartment in Pune’s Kondhwa area around 7:30 pm on Wednesday (July 2) by a man posing as a delivery agent. He gained entry under the pretext of needing a pen to sign a document and then forced his way inside, latched the door, and assaulted her. The accused took a selfie on her phone, left a threatening message warning her not to inform anyone, and may have used a substance to make her unconscious. She later informed her relatives, and police were alerted.

The incident, which occurred while the woman was alone at home, has sparked outrage across the city, coming on the heels of other recent rape cases in Swargate, Bopdev Ghat, and Solapur Highway. CCTV footage has captured the accused’s face, and police are working on creating a sketch. The woman has undergone medical examination, and a case has been registered under sections 64 (rape), 77 (voyeurism), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
