Mumbai Rain News Live Update: Mumbai has been hit by a severe rainstorm, with the Santacruz Observatory recording 268 millimetres of rainfall in the last 24 hours, the highest since 2019. The downpour has caused widespread disruption across the city, with reports of waterlogging, traffic jams and disturbances to local train services and flight operations. A total of 51 flights have been cancelled and 27 flights diverted to airports in neighbouring cities due to the closure of the runway.

The heavy rain has led the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to declare a holiday for all schools and colleges, both government and private, in the city. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the heavy rain is expected to continue throughout the day and into the next few days. Forecasts indicate that the Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada regions will be particularly affected from July 8 to July 10. In a statement on social media, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has assured that all emergency services are on high alert to deal with the station.
