Mumbai Water Cut: Several areas in Mumbai’s eastern suburbs, including parts of Andheri and Vile Parle (East), will face reduced water pressure for a week starting Sunday, June 22. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a notice warning residents to prepare for the disruption, which is expected to continue until Saturday, June 28.

The drop in water pressure is linked to ongoing construction work for the Mumbai Metro-7A project. On June 20, the BMC released an official advisory informing citizens about the temporary change in supply, mainly affecting areas in the K-East Ward.

According to the civic body, the disruption is necessary as a tunnel-boring machine will be operating beneath an active water pipeline near Bamanwada in Andheri (East). The machine will dig under an 1,800-mm water canal connected to the Veravali reservoir, which supplies water round the clock. This work is being carried out by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) as part of the Metro-7A development.

Mumbai Water Cut: Affected Areas, Timing

Due to the ongoing activity, localities such as Old Nagardas Marg, New Nagardas Marg, Mograpada and Andheri-Kurla Marg—specifically the stretch between Andheri Station and the Western Express Highway—will experience low water pressure between 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM daily during the affected period.

The BMC has advised residents to store sufficient water in advance and to use it cautiously during this period. The civic body has also assured that water pressure will return to normal once the Metro-related work is completed.
