Mumbai Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas. The weather agency issued a nowcast warning on Friday, stating that "Intense spells of rain are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mumbai during the next 3-4 hours." True to the prediction, heavy rains have lashed the city and its suburbs, leading to waterlogging in low-lying areas and crippling traffic flow.
The downpour is also expected to affect the flight operations at the city's airports with IndiGo Airlines warning passengers about potential delays and congestion. The airline has urged travellers to constantly monitor their flight status due to the adverse weather conditions. "Flights are impacted due to heavy rains and air traffic congestion in Mumbai. Do keep a tab on the flight status," IndiGo said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). According to India Today Report, a high tide of 3.8 meters is expected around 4 pm, further exacerbating the situation.
