Mumbai Weather Today: In view of the red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for heavy rain in Mumbai, IndiGo and Akasa Air have alerted flyers to check their flight status and plan their travel in advance to avoid any kind of inconvenience.

A red alert has been issued in several parts of Mumbai, warning residents of heavy rain, waterlogging and traffic snarls. Mumbai is expected to receive intense rain for the next 72 hours

Apart from Mumbai, IMD stated that several other cities of Maharashtra, including Thane, Pune, and Palghar, are expected to witness heavy rain till August 20. These regions are also likely to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. However, the intensity of the rain is expected to decrease after August 20, which will provide relief to the residents.

IndiGo Mumbai Advisory

“Mumbai is still under a blanket of rain, and the roads are moving at a gentler pace than usual. Waterlogging has been reported in parts of the city, especially on key airport routes. If you are travelling to the airport, we encourage you to plan ahead and check your flight status on our app and website before stepping out,” IndiGo posted on X.

IndiGo further informed that their teams are present and prepared to support the passengers at every step of the way.

Akasa Air Mumbai Advisory

Akasa Air issued an advisory saying certain parts of Mumbai, Bengaluru, Goa, and Pune might witness slow traffic and congestion on airport routes.

“Due to heavy rainfall in certain parts of Mumbai, Bengaluru, Goa, and Pune, we anticipate slow moving traffic and congestion on roads leading to the airport. To ensure a seamless travel experience, we request you to plan for additional travel time to reach the airport well in time for your flight,” Akasa Air posted on X.

Mumbai Waterlogged Areas

Severe waterlogging was reported in major areas, including Gandhi Market, Kings Circle, SCLR Bridge, and Malad Subway.
