Mumbai Weather Alert: The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai on Tuesday, June 17. The IMD has warned of heavy rains till 1 PM today. On Monday, heavy rain disturbed regular living in numerous regions of Mumbai, injuring three people in wall collapse and tree fall accidents.

Colaba and Santacruz meteorological observatories for south Mumbai and the surrounding suburbs recorded 42.2 mm and 69.6 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm on Monday.

In contrast, over a 10-hour period ending at 6 PM, the Nariyalwadi neighbourhood in the western suburbs received the most rainfall of 93 mm, followed by BKC (92 mm) and Khar East (86 mm).

Over the past several days, the city and its surrounding areas have experienced significant rainfall, which has resulted in traffic jams, waterlogging in low-lying areas, and interruptions to suburban and metro rail services.

Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar were under a "Orange" warning from the IMD on Monday as well, while Raigad was on a "Red" alert. Due to the rain on Monday, IndiGo Airlines issued a travel alert for passengers, further disrupting flight operations.

The airline tweeted, “Heavy rainfall continues across Mumbai, and road conditions remain slow in several parts of the city. Waterlogging and low visibility are being reported on some routes to the airport."

Till June 22, the meteorological department has forecasted isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall across Gujarat's Konkan, Goa, and Central Maharashtra.
