The Mumbai Police arrested a man after he allegedly threatened to blow up a local train. The accused called the police and claimed that he had planted a bomb in one of the local trains on August 6 at around 5.30 a.m.

The police teams responded to the threats by inspecting trains at well-known stations like Kurla, Thane, Kalyan, and Tilak Nagar terminals. Using the accused's phone number, the police tracked  his whereabouts. The accused  has been identified as Ashok Shankar Mukhiya.

When the accused made the threat call, he was intoxicated, the police said. According to the police, he was driven by resentment towards the officers due to an earlier incident he was involved in.

The accused was booked under sections for criminal communication intimidation and any person likely to commit an act endangering public tranquillity. He is still in judicial custody while awaiting additional legal action.

This hoax call incident came to light days after someone made a threat to Mumbai Police, claiming "serial bomb attacks" on local trains. The police detained a 25-year-old man from the Juhu area shortly after the purported threat call. According to a police official, the individual is believed to have made the call while under the influence of alcohol.

The man came to Mumbai from Bihar and had been residing in Mumbai for the last ten days. The police also seized the cell phone he used to place the call.
