Mumbai News:  A leader of Ajit Pawar's NCP was hacked to death in Mumbai late last night. Sachin Kurmi, a Taluka President of the Nationalist Congress Party was killed by unknown attackers with sharp weapons in the Byculla area of the city around 12:30 am, police officials said.

Kurmi was found by police in a gravely injured state at the incident site and he was promptly taken to the JJ hospital, where doctors declared him dead, an NDTV report stated. Although it was not immediately clear who was behind the attack, police suspected the involvement of two or three people.

"This incident happened around 12:30 in mid-night. As soon as the police got information about the incident, police reached the spot, and took injured Sachin to the nearby JJ Hospital, where the doctor declared Kurmi dead after checking. The police took the body into their custody and sent it for a post-mortem," Mumbai Police added as stated by news agency ANI.  

The Mumbai Police has registered a case of murder against unknown people and sent the body for a post-mortem, the report added.
