The Lalbaugcha Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal has taken insurance from New India Assurance for a total of Rs 26.54 crore ahead of this year's Ganesh Mahotsav.
Terrorism, fire, theft, accident, stampede, and prasad poisoning are all covered by the insurance. The insurance is valid from August 24 to October 23.
Ganeshotsav begins on September 19 and lasts 10 days, and it is now just a matter of days away. The majority of the large idols have been moved from workshops to individual pandals on September 9-10. This year, there will be no 'aagman' (arrival) procession because the crowd-puller idol of Lalbaugcha Raja has been carved and installed on-site at the mandal.
Mandal treasurer Mangesh Dalvi gave the insurance breakdown, which is as follows:
- Rs 12 crore is for personal accident insurance for devotees, trustees, registered executives and volunteers, residents and workers, including security personnel and watchmen.
- In the event of a mishap, each victim is entitled to compensation of up to Rs 5 lakh. Those who have received a Lalbaugcha Raja mandal identity card will be considered eligible.
- A further Rs 5 crore is set aside for third-party liabilities, including prasad poisoning.
- Damage to the set, all mandaps, and the main gate is covered by Rs 2.5 crore.
- The jewelry and valuables worn by the god or put in the mandap are worth Rs 7.04 crore.
The mandal paid a premium of Rs. 5.4 lakh for this coverage. The insurance coverage is slightly higher than it was in 2022 when Lalbaugcha Raja bought Rs 25.6 crore for a policy from the same insurer and paid a monthly of Rs 5.2 lakh.
