Mumbai Weather:  The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow advisory for Mumbai and Thane, anticipating thunderstorms with lightning, rain, and gusty winds until June 11. Residents of Mumbai, Thane, and neighbouring areas like Kalyan woke up to nice weather as these cities received their first pre-monsoon showers during the early morning hours of Saturday, offering respite from the scorching heat and humid weather.

IMD in its latest bulletin said, "Due to gradual strengthening of westerly winds in association with south-west monsoon, a gradual increase in rainfall activity is expected over parts of Maharashtra during next 5 days. Widespread rainfall activity with heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan and adjoining ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during the above period. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds are very likely to occur over inter during the above period."

According to IMD, as of June 8, 2024, the Southwest Monsoon has spread to further areas in the central Arabian Sea, south Maharashtra, Telangana, south Chhattisgarh, south Odisha, and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Furthermore, it stated that for the following two to three days, there is a good chance that the Southwest Monsoon would continue to advance into the remaining areas of the central Arabian Sea, as well as some further areas of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, and Telangana.

According to IMD, Mumbai will most likely have thunderstorms with lightning, light/moderate to heavy rainfall, and gusty winds until June 10. On June 11, heavy rains are forecast in isolated areas of Mumbai. The weather forecasting agency has issued a yellow warning for the district till June 11.
