The northbound route will be operational from 7 am to 11 pm, Monday to Friday, while it will remain closed on weekends to accommodate the ongoing project works. The civic authorities are also working diligently to open the phase up to Bindumadhav Thackeray Chowk by July 10, further enhancing the north-bound connectivity through the Mumbai Coastal Road Project.

Mumbai Southbound Coastal Road

The southbound route from Worli to Marine Drive, which was inaugurated on March 11, has already brought benefits to the city's residents. However, the northbound arm will be operational only between Marine Drive and the vehicular interchange at Haji Ali, covering a distance of around 6.25 kilometres, while the southbound arm is operational on an eight-kilometre stretch.

Civic officials have revealed that of the eight interchanges in Haji Ali, four arms will become operational with the commencement of the southbound movement and two arms of the four arms in Amarson's interchange will be operational from Monday. The remaining arms will be made operational in a phased manner.

Entire Coastal Road Operational By October

The entire coastal road, extending up to the Bandra Worli Sea Link (BWSL), is expected to be fully operational by October this year, with all the arms of the vehicular interchanges becoming functional.

Pegged at a cost of Rs 13,000 crore, the coastal road project is a high-speed corridor that will connect the BWSL with Marine Drive through a series of tunnels, vehicular interchanges, and bridges. The project's civil work is nearly 90 per cent complete, and the remaining 10 per cent will be carried out during night-time and on weekends when the road is closed.

In the final stage, the coastal road will be linked with the BWSL through a bow-string bridge, with the girders of the bridge having been launched last year and the asphalting and road surfacing works currently underway.
