Mumbai Weather: Heavy rainfall in Maharashtra’s Mumbai affected the metro rail and suburban train services and has led to waterlogging in the region. Mumbai received an average rainfall of 95 mm in 24 hours, ending at 8 AM, according to PTI, a news agency which cited civic officials. The eastern suburbs recorded 58 mm and western suburbs 75 mm of average rainfall.

Weather Forecast: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast cloudy skies with the chances of heavy rainfall at few places in Mumbai and the suburbs in the next 24 hours. A high tide of 4.21 metres was expected at 3:31 PM, followed by another high tide of 3:34 metres at 3:31 AM. A low tide of 1.86 metres will occur at 9:41 PM, and another low tide of 1.33 metres is expected tomorrow at 9:10 AM.
Train Services Hit: The suburban trains on the Central and Western Railway were affected by heavy rain on Monday. While some passengers said that the train timing was affected by 20 to 30 minutes due to the morning rush hour.
Metro Rail Services Affected: Mumbai Metro’s Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova line was hit in the afternoon after a plastic sheet fell on the overhead wires at Azad Nagar station. “The services are running normally now. Due to heavy winds, a plastic sheet from a nearby construction site flew onto the overhead electrical line near the Azad Nagar Metro station, disrupting train services,” Mumbai Metro posted on X.
Airlines Advisory: The Indigo Airlines on June 16 issued an advisory due to heavy rainfall and waterlogging in Mumbai. “Heavy rainfall continues across Mumbai, and road conditions remain slow in several parts of the city. Waterlogging and low visibility are being reported on some routes to the airport,” Indigo Airlines wrote in the official advisory. The airlines also urged the passengers to check the flight status before leaving for airport.
