MVA Candidate List: Shiv Sena (UBT), one of the major constituent parties of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition in Maharashtra, released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Assembly election in the state. The list featured the names of 65 candidates, including party chief Uddhav Thackeray's son and former Maharashtra minister Aditya Thackeray, who has been fielded from the Worli seat in Mumbai.
Most of the MLAs of the party who stayed with the Thackeray faction after the split of undivided Shiv Sena have been renominated this time. Yuva Sena leader and Aditya Thackeray's cousin Varun Sardesai has been fielded by the party from Mumbai's Bandra (East) seat.
Kedar Dighe, the nephew of late Sena leader Anand Dighe, has been nominated by the party from Thane's Kopri-Panchpakhadi seat, where Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena supremo Eknath Shinde is in the fray. It is worth mentioning here that Anand Dighe was considered Shinde's political mentor.
MAHARASHTRA ASSEMBLY ELECTION 2024: UDDHAV SENA CANDIDATE LIST
The Mahayuti alliance, a subset of the country's ruling NDA, is up against the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Opposition bloc, which comprises the Congress, the Shiv Sena (UBT), and the NCP faction led by Sharad Pawar, in Maharashtra.
In the Lok Sabha election held earlier this year, the MVA made a spectacular stride by winning 30 out of the 48 parliamentary seats spread across the state. The voting for the Assembly election in Maharashtra is set to take place on November 20 and the counting is scheduled for November 23. The state Assembly has 288 seats.
