Maharashtra: A nine-year-old boy lost his life, and at least four others sustained injuries after a state transport bus mounted the passenger platform at the Sinnar bus stand in Maharashtra’s Nashik district on Thursday. CCTV footage from the terminal shows the bus hurtling uncontrollably towards waiting passengers, prompting speculation of a brake failure.

NDTV reported that the bus had just pulled into the Sinnar stand when the driver seemed to lose control. The vehicle then surged onto the platform, hitting several people who had been waiting to board. Passengers and shopkeepers rushed to assist the injured as the bus eventually came to a stop.

Officials confirmed that the child who died has been identified as Adarsh Borade, aged 9. The Borade family were reportedly returning to their village, Dapur Sinnar, after completing a pilgrimage to Pandharpur, and were waiting at the stand when the incident occurred.

A CCTV clip, now widely shared, shows the bus entering the stand at a moderate speed before suddenly veering onto the platform.
