Pune Flood Guidelines: The water levels of multiple rivers that flow through Pune City have significantly increased as a result of the outflow from several dams, notably Khadakwasla and Mulshi. Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Administrator Dr Rajendra Bhosale have made a strong call to action for all residents to exercise care and adopt the appropriate safety measures in light of the current circumstances.
He underlined the need of staying safe and asked locals to get in touch with the Pune Municipal Corporation's (PMC) Disaster Management Unit in the event of an emergency. The numbers to call are: 020–25506800/ 020–25501269.
As of Saturday evening, the water levels in the Deccan region have significantly risen due to the ongoing discharge of water from the Khadakwasla dam. To guarantee power security, the power supply to over 100 consumers in Pulachi Wadi and Premnagar has been turned off as a precaution.
Similarly, flood waters infiltrating two areas caused the power supply to be cut off for fifteen consumers in Ektangari on Sinhagad Road.
Fire crews from Pune and PMRDA have been swiftly deployed in a number of sensitive locations, such as Khilarewadi, Dattawadi, Vishrantwadi, Deccan Riverside, Ekta Nagri, and Sarita Nagri. The fire departments are prepared for any emergency with their arsenal of vital rescue supplies, which include ropes, flashlights, life jackets, life rings, megaphones, and boats.
Through megaphones, they are constantly informing the public and issuing safety alerts to the locals to keep everyone safe and informed during this time of increasing water outflow and possible floods.
Pune Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale gave the assurance that authorities are keeping a close eye on the situation and are ready to act further if needed to protect people and property in the impacted regions.
