Pune News: Pune has become the centre of controversy after a pub allegedly sent invitations for its New Year's Eve party that included condoms and Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS). This prompted the Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress to file a complaint with Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, calling for action against the pub's management.

The provocative invitations went viral on social media, sparking outrage among local residents. Akshay Jain, a member of the Youth Congress, stated, "We are not against pubs and nightlife. However, this marketing strategy is inappropriate and goes against the traditions of Pune."

In response to the complaint, a senior police officer confirmed that they had begun recording statements from several invitees of the event. "We received the complaint on Sunday and are taking it seriously," he said.

In separate news, Pune’s Koregaon Park police registered a case against the manager and staff of a popular pub for violating closing regulations. On Friday night, the pub was found open beyond the mandated closing time of 1:30 AM. Police discovered that the DJ system was still operational and staff were serving food and drinks. CCTV footage revealed that the pub had also violated the closing deadline between December 21 and 24.

Sub-inspector Shrikant Chavan stated that the pub had organised an unapproved party, promoting it through social media. Upon investigation, the police seized the music system and other items from the pub. The pub’s registers were also taken for further investigation. The police action is part of an ongoing crackdown on establishments flouting closing times and serving alcohol to underage customers, following the fatal Porsche accident in May at Kalyaninagar, in which two techies lost their lives. The investigation is ongoing and further actions will follow based on the findings.
