Water Crisis In Pune: The residents of Pune are reportedly facing the issue of water shortage as summer intensifies, making it harder for them to meet the daily life requirements. The water shortage is reportedly forcing the residents to rely on the expensive water tankers as borewells in these areas are drying up. The residents stated that buying water is affecting their monthly budget, adding that the authorities have taken no solid step to tackle the issue.

The people residing in several areas of Pune, including Viman Nagar and Kharadi, stated that the regions will become unlivable if the authorities do not take any urgent actions, reported the Indian Express. The residents suggested that authority needs to work on the issues of pipelines and systemic water distribution.

“To address the demand-supply gap in the Gram Panchayat area, we are providing water tankers as much as possible. Areas such as Undri and Pisoli are water-stressed during summer, so a new water pipeline will be laid for a continuous water supply. We are working on the infrastructure front such as in Viman Nagar, two tanks have been constructed, and testing is currently underway,” Pune Municipal Corporation Chief Engineer Nandkishore Jagtap was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

Several residents of these regions stated that they are suffering from multiple diseases due to the hard water, adding that the story is the same every year.
