Pune Weather Forecast: Pune experienced scattered light rainfall on Saturday, though it was less intense than the showers that hit the city on Friday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast partly cloudy skies for Sunday, with cloud cover increasing in the afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds of 30 to 40 km/h are also expected.

The Times Of India report cited an IMD official as stating that, these conditions are part of the usual pre-monsoon activity affecting Pune and other parts of Maharashtra. These showers typically bring brief spells of rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds as the region transitions towards the monsoon season.

Rainfall recorded on Saturday in Pune included 2mm at NDA, 1.5mm at Rajgurunagar and 0.5mm each at Haveli, Magarapatta, Daund and Talegaon.

Weather Update

The IMD has predicted isolated to scattered light and moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds ranging from 30 to 50 km/h over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Gujarat from May 17 to 23. Konkan and Goa can expect similar weather from May 17 to 20. The weather department has also issued warnings for possible thundersqualls during this period.

In Nashik division, heavy rains and storms over the past one-and-a-half weeks have caused 12 deaths, seven of which were due to lightning strikes. The incidents occurred across several districts including Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, and Ahilyanagar. Besides loss of life, the storms damaged crops such as grapes, pomegranates, and bananas. Officials are currently assessing the full extent of the damage.

Pune Weather Forecast

The city is expected to experience thunderstorms and rain daily from May 18 to May 22, with temperatures ranging from lows of 22 to 24 degrees Celsius and highs between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius. From May 23 to 24, skies will be partly cloudy, with chances of rain or thunderstorms continuing. Residents should be prepared for unstable weather during this period.
