The incident occurred on the night of May 11, when Upendra Hudake returned home in a heavily intoxicated state. He verbally abused and physically assaulted his 28-year-old wife, suspecting her of infidelity.
Despite her denials, Hudake continued to beat and kick her, threatening her with a kitchen knife. The accused then tied his wife up with a stole on the floor and took a sharp blade and cut two holes on either side of her genitals. He then inserted iron screws and affixed a small brass lock. Additionally, Hudake even threw away the key to the lock.
Hearing the commotion, a nearby migrant labourer, Lalit Parihar, rushed to the house and found the injured and profusely bleeding woman writhing in pain on the floor. Parihar immediately called for help, and several other Nepali residents in the vicinity came to the woman's aid, transporting her to a nearby hospital in a semi-conscious state.
At the hospital, the woman underwent an emergency surgery to remove the iron screws and lock, as well as to stitch the deep wounds. Her condition is now reported to be stable, according to the Investigating Officer, Balaji Mete of the Wakad Police Station.
