A worker was killed while four others were injured in a series of blasts at a chemical factory in Maharashtra’s Thane district.  The incident occurred in Badlapur at the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) around 4:30 am on Thursday.

After the incident was reported, multiple fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames. The firefighting team launched an immediate dousing operation. The Chief of the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation said that the incident killed one worker and injured four others, who are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Bhagwat Sonawane, the chief fire officer of Kulgaon-Badlapur Fire Services, said that the factory was in the Kharvai MIDC area. Some chemicals in the drums exploded and spilt over the tempos and vehicles outside, setting them on fire, he said.
