Thane Traffic Update: The Thane traffic police on Saturday released an advisory to manage the traffic congestion on Shilphata Road. The authority further stated that the vehicular movement in this region is very slow due to multiple reasons, adding that the situation is likely to improve in the upcoming days. The traffic police, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), has issued instructions for various types of vehicles to manage the situation. It further advised the commuters to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid any inconveniences.
Thane traffic police issues advisory
- The authority stated that heavy vehicles moving towards Mahape will be diverted from Shilphata Bridge.
- The traffic police stated that the heavy vehicles will be diverted via the Kalyan Phata - Panvel route.
- It stated that the diversion of the heavy vehicles will reduce the pressure on the route and will reduce traffic congestion on the bridge.
- The traffic police stated that only light vehicles will be allowed to pass through the Shilphata Bridge for better management.
- It emphasised that the operation of light vehicles will ensure smoother movement of smaller vehicles.
- The advisory confirmed that the vehicles going towards Nashik will be able to pass through the bridge without any restrictions.
Earlier last week, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) directed to empty 37 buildings on an immediate basis to ensure safety amid continuous rain.
"There are 93 C1-category buildings (most hazardous) under TMC jurisdiction. Of these, 56 buildings have already been vacated, but 191 families are still residing in the remaining 37 high-risk structures. All assistant commissioners must interact with residents about the dangerous buildings that need to be vacated and repaired immediately," TMC chief Saurabh Rao stated.

"The residents should be made fully aware of the life-threatening dangers posed by remaining in such buildings. The buildings will remain in the possession of the residents. They must have no doubts in this regard. All C1-category buildings must be completely evacuated, while C2A and C2B buildings require large-scale repairs," he added.
