Amalaki Ekadashi 2024: The auspicious Amalaki Ekadashi, also known as Amalaka Ekadashi or Amal Ekadashi, is a significant Hindu occasion that falls on the eleventh day of the Shukla Paksha, or the waxing phase of the moon, in the lunar month of Phalgun. Amalaki Ekadashi is also known as "Phalgun Shukla Ekadashi" since it falls during the month of Phalgun. Devotees worship the amla, or amalaka tree, also known as the Indian gooseberry on this sacred day. This year, the sacred vrat of Amalaki Ekadashi is being observed today, 20th March 2024. Amalaki Ekadashi 2024: Significance Of This Sacred Day 

For Hindus, Amalaki Ekadashi is a holy day for fasting. It is thought that by keeping this Ekadashi, one might enter "Vaikunth," the residence of Lord Vishnu. The "Brahmanda Purana" and Saint "Valmiki" both discuss the customs and significance of Amalaki Ekadashi. On this day, people worship the amla tree as a symbolic depiction of the sacred Hindu rituals. Goddess Lakshmi is also revered on this occasion since it is believed that She is an omnipresent divinity. 

Amalaki Ekadashi 2024: Vrat Katha Of This Sacred Fast 

According to legend, there once was a monarch by the name of Chitrasena who was a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu. He used to keep the Amalaki Ekadashi fast, receiving the deity's blessings in the process. He once went hunting with his warriors and was ambushed by the guys from the tribe. They captured the king after attacking him together with the soldiers.

They chose to offer the King's life as a bali (sacrifice) in accordance with their rite to appease their god. The King lost his consciousness and collapsed. Abruptly, a beam of light sprang from his body, eliminating every one of the tribal males. The monarch was informed by a supernatural voice upon gaining awareness that he was spared due to the advantages and virtues of keeping the Amalaki Ekadashi fast with utmost dedication.
