The Hindu calendar states that the tenth month, Paush month (also called Pushya maas), is of the utmost significance for worshipping gods and carrying out rites for deceased ancestors. It is believed that on the eve of Paush Amavasya, it is auspicious to worship Dhana Lakshmi and Dhanya Lakshmi, the two manifestations of Goddess Lakshmi, to receive their heavenly blessings, abundance, and fortune. The believers can lessen the negative impacts of planets Ketu, Rahu, Shani, and Jupiter by engaging in the Ann and Vastra Daan on the specific day of Paush Amavasya or donating food and clothing.
