Anant Chaturdashi 2023: Ganesh Utsav's final day, or its conclusion is when the Ganesh Visarjan ceremony is held. Popularly, this day is also regarded as Anant Chaturdashi. As the devotees wish their beloved Lord Ganesha farewell to return to his place and make a pledge to return the next year, the sacred day of Ganpati Visarjan is celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur. The Lord Ganesh idol is displayed in magnificent pandals, homes, and several public locations to mark the celebration. The enormous Visarjan, or immersion of the idol of Lord Ganpati in the sea or another water body marks the end of Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations. There are certain rituals and do’s and don’ts that need to be followed while observing the Ganpati visarjan. This year, Anant Chaturdashi will be celebrated on 28th September 2023.

Anant Chaturdashi 2023: Do’s And Don’ts

1. The visarjan should take place during the shubh muhurat and at the appropriate time only. The devotees must not immerse the idol during inappropriate muhurat/time.

2. Don't send Ganpati Bappa to his heavenly home without providing him with the food he'll need for the trip back.

3. Once Lord Ganesha has been brought outside for the visarjan, do not shut the door to your home. Until the family returns from the immersion, one family member must remain at home and keep the door open.

4. If at all possible, devotees must do the immersion procedure in a bucket or drum at home.

5. Those who live close to natural water bodies, such as oceans, rivers, ponds and lakes, can proceed to the authorised site for immersion if the idol cannot be submerged at home.

6. The conclusive puja and aarti must be performed at home rather than at the location of the visarjan.
