Religious belief suggest that by performing proper worship and making donations on Annapurna Jayanti, a person's household's food reserves never run dry and poverty is eradicated.

Follow the below mentioned guidelines to perform the Annapurna Jayanti Puja:
- On Annapurna Jayanti, wake up early in the morning and thoroughly clean your home and especially kitchen. Sprinkle some Ganga Jal on the kitchen stove and other utensils.
- Install an idol or picture of Goddess Annapurna in the kitchen where food is prepared.
- Place a pot filled with water in the place of worship. Offer roli, rice grains, turmeric, flowers, fruits, and naivedya (offerings) to Goddess Annapurna. Be sure to include kheer or homemade sweets in the offerings.
- On this day, perform special puja for the household grain storage (such as rice or wheat bins) and the kitchen stove. Apply turmeric and kumkum to the grain bins and offer your respects.
- Towards the conclusion, perform aarti of Goddess Annapurna and pray that your home never faces a shortage of food and money.
- Donating food to the poor and needy on this day is also considered extremely auspicious.
