Religious Beliefs Surrounding Bada Mangalwar

Bada Mangal holds a number of sacred beliefs. It is said that on a Tuesday in the month of Jyeshtha, Lord Hanuman met Lord Ram for the first time. On a Tuesday like this, Hanuman humbled Bhima's pride, according to another Mahabharata tale. The story goes that while they were in exile, Bhima travelled to the Gandhamadan mountains to bring Draupadi fragrant flowers. An old monkey, disguised as Hanuman, was lying there, his tail splayed across the walkway. "You may move it yourself," Hanuman said modestly in response to Bhima's haughty request for the monkey to move. Bhima was unable to even lift the tail with all of his strength. Then Hanuman broke Bhima's pride by gently knocking him down with it. Hanuman only then revealed his actual form and intent, which was to guide and humble Bhima's ego.
