Chaitra is the first month of the year in both the national civil calendar of India and the conventional Hindu calendar. In the Bengali calendar, it is the last month and is referred to as Choitro. The final month of the Nepali calendar, known as the Vikram Samvat, which starts in mid-March, is also known as Chaitra or Chait. The Tamil calendar begins with the month of Chittirai. This month, known as Chet in the Sindhi calendar, is celebrated with the Cheti Chand.
It is believed that Lord Brahma started the creation of the universe in this particular month. Additionally, many significant festivals are observed during this sacred month. This year, the Chaitra Month began on 26th March 2024 and will end on 23rd April 2024.
