Chandra Grahan 2023: The lunar eclipse is set to occur on 28th October 2023. During a lunar eclipse, Earth's shadow falls on the Moon's surface because Earth is nearly perfectly between the Moon and the Sun. Half of the Moon appears darker during a partial eclipse, and occasionally the Moon turns crimson during a total eclipse. An eclipse has various implications astrologically as well as astronomically. The significance of an eclipse can differ from faith to faith. Hinduism considers eclipse to be an unlucky phenomenon. According to sacred Hindu texts, a lunar eclipse occurs when Rahu, the evil god, grasps the Sun and the Moon by the mouth. Furthermore, the celestial event releases a lot of negative energy because he is a "demon" deity. During an eclipse, temples also remain shut.
