Dhanteras 2023: The auspicious Dhanteras or Dhanatrayodashi is a celebration that heralds the start of Diwali. This year, this festival will be observed on 10th October 2023. In honour of Lord Kubera and Goddess Lakshmi, who are both revered in Hinduism as symbols of prosperity and success, the day is said to be auspicious for buying valuable things, such as jewellery made of silver and gold. “Dhan” stands for wealth and “Teras” represents the 13th day of Krishna Paksha. Additionally, Lord Dhanwantri, the lord of medicine is also worshipped on this sacred occasion. Dhanteras 2023: Puja Vidhi Of Dhanatrayodashi 

- The evening of Dhanteras is seen to be the most auspicious time to worship Devi Lakshmi. Goddess Lakshmi puja is performed in honour of the goddess after sunset. - According to the scriptures, on the day of Dhanteras, one should worship Dhanvantari and Shodashopchara. There are sixteen different worship ceremonies in the Shodashopachara ritual. Along with Aarti, parikrama, Aasan, Padya, Arghya, and Aachaman (scented drinking water), scents (saffron and sandalwood), flowers, dhoop, baths, clothing, jewellery, and betel leaves are also offered.  

- On Dhanteras day, it is customary to purchase gold and silver cutlery. These cooking tools are known to have a big influence on the wealth omen in your house.

- This time, to celebrate the approaching Diwali celebration, the front gate and outdoor areas of the house are decorated with lights and lamps.

- On the day of Dhanteras, a Yam Diya is lit in order to appease Lord Yamraj to alleviate people's fears and anxieties regarding untimely death.
