Diwali 2024: The sacred festival of Deepawali or Diwali is being celebrated on 31st October 2024. Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is a joyous celebration of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Lasting five days, it honours the triumph of Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana, symbolising the victory of righteousness. Diwali also commemorates Goddess Lakshmi, the embodiment of prosperity and wisdom. The festival illuminates homes, hearts, and communities with diyas (earthen lamps), candles, and fireworks. It's a time for spiritual reflection, new beginnings, and bonding with family and friends.

Diwali 2024: Puja Vidhi To Worship Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi And Maa Saraswati

For Diwali's Lakshmi Puja, the northeast (Ishan Kon) or north direction is considered most auspicious. Clean and purify the puja area, drawing a swastik symbol. Place a bowl of rice and set up a wooden chowki with a red cloth. Install Goddess Lakshmi's photo or idol, accompanied by Lord Ganesha, Lord Kuber and Mata Saraswati. Sprinkle Ganga jal (holy water) on the idols for purification.

Offer flowers, incense, lamps, akshat (rice), and dakshina (coins) to the deities. Apply haldi and roli (vermilion) tilak and offer rice. Post-puja, provide bhog (food) and prasad (offerings). Conclude by performing aarti for all deities. Finally, light diyas (lamps) throughout your home and at the main entrance, spreading divine light and warmth. Make sure to conclude the puja by reciting Om Jai Jagdish Hare Aarti of Lord Vishnu to please Goddess Lakshmi.
