On Bijoya Dashami, Bengali households and communities prepare for the final farewell of Goddess Durga after five days of grand celebrations. Early in the morning, devotees gather at pandals adorned with flowers and lights, offering prayers and chanting hymns. The goddess’s idol is ceremoniously bathed and decorated with fresh garlands, symbolising respect and gratitude. Devotees offer sweets, fruits, and traditional dishes as a token of reverence.

The central ritual of Bijoya Dashami is the Visarjan, where devotees immerse the idol of Goddess Durga into rivers, ponds, or the sea. Processions move through the streets with drums, conch shells, and chanting, creating an atmosphere of devotion and celebration. Devotees carry the idol with immense reverence, singing traditional songs and performing aarti before the immersion.
