This sacred occasion is known by various names, including Ashadi Ekadashi, Maha Ekadashi, and Padma Ekadashi. In Maharashtra, the annual Padharpur Yatra pilgrimage to the Padharpur temple concludes on this day, while in the south, it's celebrated as Toli Ekadashi. Devotees follow traditional customs, such as wearing heated seals, known as Tapta Mudra Dharana, in Vaishnavite Mutts. Devshayani Ekadashi also marks the onset of Chaturmas, as according to legend, Lord Vishnu begins his four-month Yoga-Nidra, a divine slumber in the milky ocean on this day. This makes it an ideal time to seek blessings from Lord Vishnu and Goddess Mahalakshmi, and devotees worship them with devotion and reverence. By observing this sacred day, devotees aim to attain spiritual growth and enlightenment.
