Ganesh Visarjan 2024: Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated every year for eleven days in the months of August or September. Ganesh Visarjan is a ritual of immersing Ganesha’s idol in a river, sea or any waterbody and is done to mark his journey back to his heavenly home in Mount Kailash where he will join his parents Lord Shiva and Parvati. In the eleven days of Ganesh Chaturthi, the Ganpati Visarjan date can be after one and a half days, five or six days, seven days and eleven days.

1. Choose an Auspicious Time: Select a favourable time for Visarjan, considering the lunar cycle and astrological influences. Typically, early morning or late afternoon is considered suitable. Ensure the ceremony is conducted before sunset to avoid any inauspicious implications.

2. Prepare the Idol: Before immersion, decorate the idol with flowers, garlands, and offerings. Apply a layer of sandalwood paste and vermilion to protect the idol during immersion. This symbolic gesture ensures Lord Ganesh's energy remains intact.

3. Select a Suitable Location: Identify a nearby waterbody, such as a river, lake, or sea, for immersion. Ensure the location is accessible and safe for devotees. Avoid immersing the idol in stagnant or polluted water, as it may offend the deity.

4. Perform Rituals with Devotion: Conduct the Visarjan ceremony with sincerity and devotion. Recite mantras, offer prayers, and perform aartis to invoke Lord Ganesh's blessings. This heartfelt approach ensures a meaningful and spiritually enriching experience.

5. Immersion with Care: Gently place the idol in the waterbody, ensuring it is fully submerged. Avoid touching or handling the idol excessively, as it may be considered disrespectful. Instead, use a cloth or sling to support the idol during immersion.

6. Respect the Environment: After immersion, collect any remaining decorations and offerings to prevent pollution. Encourage eco-friendly practices, such as using biodegradable materials and avoiding plastic waste, to preserve the sanctity of the environment.

7. Seek Divine Blessings: Conclude the Visarjan ceremony by seeking Lord Ganesh's blessings and forgiveness for any inadvertent mistakes. Offer gratitude for his presence and guidance, and beseech his continued protection and benevolence throughout the year.
