- Gopeshwar Mahadev Temple is one of the ancient temples of Vrindavan. According to folklore, once Radha Rani, together with various gopis made a rule that only women may take part in the Raas Leela. Lord Shiva took on the disguise of a Gopi because he too desired to partake in the joyous Raas Leela with Lord Krishna. Since then, Lord Shiva has been worshipped as a gopi at the Gopeshwar Mahadev temple. 

- Mondays are usually the busiest day for pilgrims visiting Gopeshwar Mahadev in Vrindavan since Monday is associated with Lord Shiva. Visiting this temple in the Hindu month of Shravan opens the door to salvation.

- In addition to its spiritual and historical importance, the Gopeshwar Mahadev Temple is well known for its exquisite design. The temple features beautiful spires, marble facades, and detailed sculptures typical of North Indian temple architecture.
