Heramba Ganpati is one of the 32 forms of Ganesha, depicted riding a lion. Worshipping him is believed to boost confidence in facing life's challenges. Although there's no dedicated temple, he's worshipped as a subsidiary deity in the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Meditating on this form of Ganesha helps remove fear about the future, bringing peace and positivity to devotees' lives, and guiding them through difficulties with faith and determination.

Heramba Sankashti Chaturthi 2025: Rituals

On Heramba Sankashti Chaturthi, devotees observe a strict fast from sunrise to moon sighting in the evening. Some opt for partial fasting, consuming fruits or sabudana khichadi. This fast is a way to show devotion and seek Lord Ganesha's blessings. Devotees believe that observing the fast with dedication brings positivity and spiritual growth.

The main puja is performed in the evening, after moon sighting. Devotees worship Chandra, the Moon God, and decorate Lord Ganesha's idol with durva grass and flowers. A special sweet, modak, is offered along with banana and coconut, symbolising devotion and gratitude towards the Lord. This puja is an essential part of the celebrations.

During the puja, a lamp is lit, and an aarti is performed, filling the atmosphere with positivity and spiritual energy. Prasad is distributed after the puja, symbolising the Lord's blessings. The aarti and prasad distribution are crucial elements of the puja, bringing the devotees closer to Lord Ganesha. The ceremony is filled with devotion.
