Jyeshtha Amavasya 2025: Jyeshtha Amavasya is a significant day in the Hindu calendar when individuals pay homage to their ancestors. Numerous individuals perform Pind Daan and Tarpan to honour their ancestors and ask for blessings. The day includes prayer, donation and various spiritual practices. This significant day also marks Shani Jayanti, which enhances its importance. Many individuals go to Lord Shani temples to seek blessings for prosperity and wellness. In some parts of India, women observe Vat Savitri Vrat by fasting and praying for the well-being and longevity of their husbands. This year, Jyeshtha Amavasya will be observed on 27th May 2025.

As per the sacred Hindu texts, individuals must adhere to certain dos and don’ts on this day. One of these guidelines includes not purchasing certain items on Amavasya as they are deemed to be inauspicious and may invite misfortune. We have curated a list of the top 6 things that you must abstain from purchasing on Jyeshtha Amavasya below:

Jyeshtha Amavasya 2025: 6 Things You Should NEVER Purchase On No Moon Day Even By Mistake

1. Broom Or Jhadu: It is advised to refrain from purchasing brooms on Amavasya. It is believed that bringing a new broom into your home on Amavasya angers Goddess Lakshmi and can hinder good fortune, resulting in issues with finances and health.

2. Alcohol: It is wise to refrain from purchasing or consuming liquor on Amavasya and Purnima. It is believed to draw in undesirable energies associated with Shani Dev, potentially impacting your health and wealth.
