Jyeshtha Month 2025: According to the Hindu Panchang, Jyeshtha is the third month of the Hindi calendar and one of the hottest months of the year. It is usually called 'Jeth'. There is extreme heat and unpredictable weather this month. All twelve months of the Hindi calendar have a different type of significance and affect all areas of life. Jyeshtha is of great spiritual as well as seasonal significance. Donations of items that offer respite from the sun's heat during this period are most suited. People donate essentials like umbrellas, fans, water and cooling appliances to help others cope with extreme hot summer weather and earn spiritual merit.

Jyeshtha Month 2025: Significance
Jyeshtha is a month of major importance in the Hindu calendar. It is the third month in India's national civil calendar and generally falls during the time from May to June on the Gregorian calendar. Bengali refers to it as Joishtho, and it is regarded as the second month in the Bengali calendar. In lunar religious calendars, Jyeshtha starts with the new moon and is also the third month. It is the height of summer in India, with hot weather.
In Hindu astrology, Jyeshtha starts when the Sun enters the zodiac sign of Taurus. It is thus regarded as the second month in the astrological calendar. In Tamil culture, this time is referred to as Āni and constitutes the third month of the Tamil solar calendar, starting in mid-June. Throughout various regions and traditions, Jyeshtha is seasonally, spiritually and astrologically significant, affecting religious observances and cultural practices alike.

Jyeshtha Month 2025: Rules
1. During the month of Jyeshtha, the elder son or daughter of the family must not get married, as it is said to yield inauspicious outcomes and future troubles.
2. Do not eat spicy food, meat, or hot substances during Jyeshtha, as the extreme summer heat may aggravate their effects and adversely affect your digestive system and overall health.
3. Always provide water to everyone who comes thirsty to your doorstep. Giving water to the poor is a good deed and is highly spiritually rewarding in the hot month of Jyeshtha.
4. Avoid travelling in the afternoon during Jyeshtha, since intense sunlight can cause dehydration or sickness. Drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself healthy and out of sunstroke.
5. Don't sleep in the daytime during the month of Jyeshtha. Also, do not consume brinjal because it can be harmful to the health of children and is also not recommended during this month.
