On the sacred day of Kalki Jayanti, many Hindu devotees observe a fast as a mark of spiritual discipline and devotion. While customs may vary across regions, the core essence of the festival remains centred around honouring Lord Vishnu’s final avatar, Kalki. Fasting is seen as a symbolic act of repentance, where devotees pray for forgiveness and seek salvation before the end of Kali Yuga, which Lord Kalki is prophesied to bring about.

Puja rituals begin with the chanting of the Beej Mantra, followed by the ceremonial bathing of Lord Kalki’s idol with water and Panchamrit. Devotees chant the Vishnu Sahasranama, Narayana Mantra, and other sacred verses, often reciting them 108 times. Offerings of fruits, sweets, flowers, incense and lamps are placed before the deity, expressing heartfelt devotion. These practices are intended to invite divine blessings, spiritual cleansing and a deeper connection with Lord Vishnu’s compassionate presence.
