Kurma Jayanti 2025 marks the birth anniversary of Lord Vishnu's tortoise incarnation called "Kurma" in Sanskrit. According to the Hindu calendar, it takes place on the full moon day (Purnima) of the Vaishakh month. As per the Bhagavata Purana, when the ocean (Ksheer Sagar Manthan) was being churned, Lord Vishnu assumed the form of a tortoise to hold up Mount Mandara, which served as the churning rod. Through this act, Lord Vishnu brought equilibrium to the universe. To commemorate this sacred event, devotees observe Kurma Jayanti with worship, rituals and reverence, offering gratitude for the Lord's part in upholding universal harmony.
