Lokkhi Puja 2023: The Lokkhi Puja also known as Kojagari Laxmi Puja is one of the most auspicious days devoted to the Goddess of wealth. This day is known by varied names depending upon the region. Since Goddess Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, happiness, and success, people worship her on this day to attract good fortune, improve wealth and get rid of financial hardships. This day is especially known as Bengali Lakshmi Puja as it is celebrated by the Bengali community after the 10-day Durga Puja celebrations on the full moon day of Ashwin month. It is believed that goddess Lakshmi visits the day of her devotees on this auspicious day. This year, the Lokkhi Puja will be celebrated on 28th October 2023.

Lokkhi Puja 2023: Kojagari Laxmi Puja Significance
Kojagari Puja is an auspicious day dedicated to worshipping Goddess Lakshmi at Purnima (full moon) in the Hindu month of "Ashwin." Orissa, West Bengal, and Assam, three Indian states, celebrate it with great majesty. This Lakshmi Puja day is also known as Kojagiri Purnima, or Bengal Lakshmi Puja. Kojagari Puja is performed to please Goddess Lakshmi. Hindus believe that the Purnima, which falls in the month of Ashwin, is the “Night of Awakening,” on which goddess Lakshmi is believed to appear on Earth and bless her devotees. Devotees who perform puja with the greatest devotion are blessed with success, money, and heavenly blessings by the goddess of wealth.

Lokkhi Puja 2023: Kojagiri Laxmi Puja Rituals
The Kojagara Puja festival encompasses various customs and rituals. During Kojagari Puja, devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi and offer her prayers. In pandals or houses, the idol of the deity is placed. With the aim of obtaining divine blessings, Kojagari Puja rituals vary from place to place and region to faith.
Under the guidance of a priest, devotees carry out a Lakshmi Puja. Offerings of narkel bhaja, taaler phol, naru, khichuri, and sweets are made to Goddess Lakshmi in order to receive her heavenly blessings. On this particular day, women draw Alpana in front of their houses to represent the feet of Goddess Lakshmi as it is believed that the goddess of wealth visits every household.
