Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Ujjain: The Mahakaleshwar temple is situated in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, beside the banks of the Kshipra River. This sacred temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. While other jyotirlingas are installed, Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is Dakshinmukhi Swayambhu, which means it south-facing and self-manifested. This sacred Jyotirlinga is revered as one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas. It is believed that Sati Devi's upper lip fell at this spot, hence the name Mahakali for the Shakti. - Legend Associated With The Temple - Hindu Puras state that King Chandrasena of Ujjain's devotion to Lord Shiva astounded a five-year-old boy named Shrikar. With that, Shrikar began to worship a stone in the form of Shiva. His passion only deepened despite numerous attempts to stop him from using various strategies. Appreciated for his dedication, Lord Shiva took on the appearance of a Jyotirlinga and made the Mahakal forest his home. 

- Ashes Of A Freshly Cremated Body Is Used For Lord Mahakaal - The unique temple, which is situated in Ujjain, is where the aarti of Lord Shiva is conducted using the ashes of a recently cremated body. This temple is also renowned as one of the seven significant Mukti Sthalas. 

- Self-Manifested Jyotirlinga - Unlike other temples where lingas are erected, this one has Dakshinamukhi Swayambhu's "self-manifested" Jyotirlinga, which receives strength from within.

- Temple Structure - The Nagachandresvara lingam is located on the top floor and is only accessible for Darshan on Nag Panchami. The Omkareshwar Lingam, which welcomes guests year-round, is located on the second floor. 

- Koti Teertha - Within the complex is also a big Kunda or Koti Tirtha. Near Koti Tirtha are the idols of Kartikeya, Parvati, and Ganesha. Devotees are expected to bathe at the Koti Teertha because it is thought to be filled with celestial water.
