Makar Sankranti 2024: Importance Of Makar Sankranti According to Astrology

Sankranti interprets the Sun's journey from one Rashi (zodiac constellation) to the next. As a result of this, a year has twelve Sankrantis. Known by another name, "Poush Sankranti," The Makar Sankranti is the most auspicious of these and one of the few Hindu events that coincides with the solar cycle.

It marks the official end of winter since on this day the Sun starts to migrate from the Dakshinayana (South) to the Uttarayana (North) hemisphere. In addition to being a seasonal celebration and religious event, the occurrence also signifies the sun's entry into Makar Rashi or the Capricorn Zodiac Sign.
