Margashirsha Month 2025: Agrahayana or Margashirsha month is the ninth month of the Hindu calendar which falls after Kartik Maas. Margashirsha month begins this year on 6th November 2025 and ends on 4th December 2025. This month is regarded as the most favourite month of Lord Krishna. It is believed that worshipping the supreme Lord during this month brings highly favourable results. Additionally, devotees offer worship to Goddess Lakshmi and Tulsi Devi this month to seek the blessings for prosperity, success and good fortune. Lord Krishna has said in the Bhagavad Gita, "Among the months, I am Margashirsha," which reveals why this month holds utmost significance in Hinduism. Devotees observe fast, donate to the needy and take a sacred dip in the holy rivers during this month. Thursdays of the Margashirsha are considered to be especially auspicious for the worship of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that worship and good deeds performed during this period bring prosperity, peace, and freedom from sins.
According to astrology, the month of Agrahayana or Margashirsha is associated with the Mrigashira constellation, one of the 27 constellations. Since the full moon of Agahan coincides with the Mrigashira constellation, it is known as Margashirsha. Additionally, offering Arghya to Surya dev every day during this sacred month is considered highly auspicious. Several important fasts and festivals fall during this month, including Saubhagya Sundari Teej, Utpanna Ekadashi, Gita Jayanti, Margashirsha Amavasya and Purnima, Annapurna Jayanti, among others.
